Message From The Founder
I would not have imagined that I would find my passion and purpose in end of life care. But here I am. I am forever grateful that my Dad allowed me to be by his side when he passed away in 2016. With hearing being one of the last senses to go, I was so thankful to be able to fill his final moments with loving words. As he surrendered to his last breath, I can hold onto knowing he wasn’t alone and his passing was peaceful. The lifting, lightness, peace and calm that overwhelmed the room was aw inspiring and changed the path and purpose of my life.
I have learned that there is a great need for compassion, companionship, advocacy and support in end of life care. I work as an extension of the primary care providers to help with any shortcomings that may be present in your or a loved ones care.
The dying process can be primarily medical, preparing for life but not for death. But it is not only medicine that is needed in one’s declining years but life, a life with meaning, a life as rich and full as possible under the circumstances. A human experience I would be honoured to be a part of.
My career background has been working in the corporate environment as a legal assistant. It has served me well and will be valuable in my service to end of life care clients.
I have completed the End of Life Doula Course, Faculty of Health Sciences, at Douglas College and Dementia Courses through the world-leading Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, University of Tasmania and Alzheimer Calgary.
